Well, I wasn't thinking of the opera, but I'll go ahead and give Yoda Man 10 skellington points for one-up-ing me and going straight to the source ;)

I was actually refering to the character from The Tick cartoon, Die Fledermaus, who was an egotistical parody on Batman. In The Tick live TV series, the equivalent character was called Batmanuel. There was no equivalent in the comics. Anyway, Die Fledermaus is of course German, which translates literally to 'the flying mouse' (I believe), and is refering to a bat.

(This is a reference to the 80's musician Taco, who is best know for his version of Puttin on the Ritz. Does anyone have a CD version of After Eight? It's out of print and was an import. I'd kill to have a copy) :) I have tapes of After Eight and his second one--can't remember the title)
