Ep. I Selling Price

I've been thinking of selling my Ep. I carded figures and was trying to figure out what method and price was best.

Its the complete set of 50 figures on various cardbacks along with the 3 Deluxe Packs, Darth Maul w/Sith Infiltrator, Darth Maul vs. Obi-Wan, first 4 Accessory Sets, Flash Cannon Accessory Set and a Darth Maul/Battle droid 2 pack. (with or without Star Cases).

The only real problem is a slightly dented bubble on my Yoda. Everything else is quite decent. I need to make room to expand my moc R2-D2 collection.

I'm going to try posting it in the forums for a while in the trades section and then place them on Ebay if it doesn't sell.

What do you guys figure should be a reasonable price for the lot? I don't mind the idea of making 2 lots (the 50 figs + the others), but I don't want the hassle of individual sales. The concept of an entire collection without multiple shipping charges should be appealing. Any help guys?

You have a problem in that besides the last two waves (R2-B1, TC-14, Sio Bibble, Amidala Ascension, Holo Sidious, Pit Droids, & Swimming Jar Jar), the rest of the Episode I line tends to sell for $1-$2 a piece, or less. Even the Pit Droids and Jar Jar sell for much less than they used to.

I hate to say it, but I think $100 would be more than normal for the entire line...

Thats depressing. What happened with the line?

I guess theres so many things to collect these days - and being produced at 100 miles an hour, I don't think collectors know if their comming or going. I never would have thought the investment would go that sour.

Considering that theres 62 pieces in this set I figured at least its worth twice that (calling everything $2 each and R2-B1, TC-14, Sio Bibble, Amidala Ascension, Holo Sidious, Pit Droids, & Swimming Jar Jar as variable, but decent price).

The line suffered from severe overproduction and many people not being very impressed with TPM as a movie.

Many of the characters from the line have since had superior sculpts in more recent lines.

yeah, selling that series as a group isn't going to bring as much as you would like. If you want to max out the selling value, you've got to break it down. If you don't want to sell them individually, then i would suggest selling them in waves, like they were released. I would also look into the variations. without looking, i don't recall a lot of variations on that line that would increase the value, but that yoda you are talking about is pretty much worthless, unless it's one that has the Eprisode I logo on it. Valorum had several variations, some of which might be worth more to someone out there.

Yeah, E1 was so massively produced that it holds little value. However, tracking down quality packaging should be problematic for new colletors. You could play up condition of packaging.


Alternatively, you could advertise them as Loose OR Packaged. Some people collect loose.....don't want to pay tons of shipping...and would prefer them loose. I'm aware of a couple sellers who post 200-300 loose figures at a time..every month or so. Lots of figures sell cheap....$5 or less.....but that's loose. Others people get into bidding wars over. I bid on a R2-B1...figured...eh...I'd pay $4 for another one. Sold for $23!!!! LOOSE!

Maybe you should take any rarer figs....sell them individually as optional carded/loose. Make the most you can off of them. The sell everything else in maybe small groups of 8-10 items. I dunno. I've yet to sell on ebay myself....but I've been amazed how the loose figures skyrocket these days. Admittedly the E1 figs don't sell high loose, unless it's rare or army builder.

I've been thinking of selling my Star Wars collection. Collecting action figures doesn't really interest me as much anymore. I tend to go for the more high end collectibles now and my money goes into socialising.

I have a spare Ep. 1 R2 of course. I don't have a problem selling those as a lot, but I'm going to wait until I have the time to sell them all the others also. I'm sure comming up with decent postal packaging might be a hassle.
