Dark Lord of the Typos
Today we have a special treat. This is a advertisement from the October 23. 1984 issue of Woman's Day magazine. It is a two-page spread promoting the new world of toys called Kenner Preschool. The entire right page is devoted to Ewoks. The Kenner Preschool line-up consists of Ewoks, Strawberry Shortcake, and Care Bears. It's great to see how some of these toy lines were promoted back then, including the pre-school spin on "cuddly little Ewoks." The tradition of toys geared specifically for younger kids (as a stepping stone to action figures) has continued in modern lines like Hasbro's Galactic Heroes and Jedi Force series, and other great lines like Playschool's Imaginext superheroes.
"The Ewoks. Hours and hours of imaginative play await your child with Wicket the Ewok toys. Kids will love recreating the magical world of their favorite Ewok characters such as Wicket and Princess Kneesaa as they ride the elevator in the Ewok Family Hut and rescue their friends with the Ewok Fire Cart Playset."
