Vintage Diecast TIE question

I picked us a vintage die-cast TIE Fighter on ebay. This one was complete for change--the one I've had for 15+ years has always been missing the engine block/pilot piece.

Anyway, this white cockpit has a Darth Vader piloting it. Did both TIEs have Vader for the pilot? I would assume they did, but I thought I'd ask.

I have both from my own childhood, and Vader is in both. I have no idea what Kenner was thinking, but there's your answer.
