“The Cinema of George Lucas”

The creator of Star Wars brings his memorabilia to the Space Center — where else would it go?

BY OLIVIA FLORES ALVAREZ

You won’t have to go to a galaxy far, far away to enjoy “The Cinema of George Lucas” exhibit — just get over to Space Center Houston. On display are dozens of props, costumes and artifacts from Lucas’s private collection, amassed during more than 30 years of filmmaking. Of course, two of Lucas’s most famous characters, R2D2 and C3PO, will be there.

Visitors will also see an airspeeder and starfighter from Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, the car from Tucker: The Man and His Dream and the original screenplay from THX 1138 (his first feature). There’s more memorabilia from Indiana Jones and Howard the Duck.

But visitors can do more than look. At the accompanying “Live the Adventure” interactive experience, fans can pretend to be Luke Skywalker as they take the Death Star Laser Maze Challenge. They also can join in on a galactic war and shoot down enemies in the Clone Wars Blaster Training. Still not enough of a challenge? Try getting through the Temple of Doom Obstacle Course or the Indiana Jones Mayan Ropes Adventure.

10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Through September 30. 1601 NASA Parkway. For information, call 281-244-2100 or visit www.spacecenter.org. $15.95 to $19.95.
