A couple days ago I was able to get my library to interlibrary loan the Dressing a Galaxy book and it is awesome! I was flipping through the pages when I stumbled upon a large picture of the Blue Senate Guard helmet. Well I said to myself "I have got to make me one of those! so I took some wax paper and did a tracing and scanned it into our computer. I printed off a
couple of copies to use as reference and Went at it. I found some heavy duty cardboard and here's what I gotten done so far:

I couldn't get the neck part to flare out like the original Senate helmet so I left it off. The face part was all hand drawn using a ruler and cut out with some scissors. I still have to find a dome for the top and make the "Ridge" & get some dark blue paint and make the visor, but for now it's looking pretty good. Isn't is amazing what you can do with Cardboard??

Let me know what you think!!

That's pretty cool! :) You could probably make the shoulder flares if you had loads of time to put into it. What you'd have to do is make cardboard strips (say....one in wide..maybe even bigger) that would radiate out from the bottom of the helmet....kinda like a skeleton framework....and then use sections of paper or cardstock to cover these...creating the outer helmet shell. It would take tons of work..but could be done. :p

WOW! That's awesome!! Hope you have time to finish it soon:D Here's some updated pictures of my Senate Helmet:

I'm putting Paper Mache on a basketball for the dome, I plan on using 20 layers so it's going to be REALLY sturdy!!

I just so happened to find a lone can of Dark blue Spray paint in one of our Garage cupboards, so now it's really starting to look more like a Senate Helmet!!
