The Pennsylvania Star Wars Collecting Society (http://www.PSWCS.com), in association with Toy Cave (http://www.visitccpa.com/directory/details.asp?ID=467), is holding a Star Wars toy drive to benefit Garrison Carida (http://www.garrisoncarida.com) of the 501st Legion (http://www.501st.com). Garrison Carida encompasses much of the mid-Atlantic region, including Pennsylvania, Delaware and West Virginia. They are a truly service-oriented chapter of the 501st, dedicating the majority of their efforts to helping children. They visit children's hospitals 6 or 7 times a year where they pose for photos with the patients and hand out Star Wars toys. The toys collected through this drive will be given to the children during these visits.
PSWCS will accept donations until December 11th. The donations will be collected and stored at Toy Cave, a Carlisle, PA toy shop that specializes in action figures and collectibles from the 1970s to present, including vintage and modern Star Wars toys with a specialty in Japanese toys. On December 11th PSWCS will hand the toys over to representatives of Garrison Carida at a special celebration that will be held at Toy Cave. We're expecting many fully-armored members of Garrison Carida to be on-hand for the event.
If you would like to contribute to this toy drive, you can mail your donations to the address below. We can accept Star Wars action figures, vehicles, and games. However, Garrison Carida does not hand out role-playing toys or weapons. In addition to toys, Garrison Carida needs the camera film that is used to take their pictures.
