It's a post-Death Star world and Luke Skywalker has set up a school for keeners looking to learn the ways of the Force in Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. Pick your species (Twi'lek, Kel Dor, Rhodian, Zabrak or Human) and your gender, learn a few lightsaber tricks and "Force-centric" throw-downs. Next thing you know, it's time for a practicum, so off you go to deal with a few galactic-sized problems that real Jedi would be hard pressed to solve, but you're all that's available so you better have your poop in a group.

A third-person action adventure built on "Quake 3" code, Jedi Academy lets you choose from multiple missions, which gives the game a loose, open-ended feel, as does the selection of Jedi powers at your disposal, with most of the cool ones -- like the old choke hold or chained lighting thing -- clearly leaning to the dark side but hey, they get the job done.

Best of all, of course, is the online multiplayer component in which you and keeners from around the world can have it, co-operate or just see who's got the bigger lightsaber.
