As expected would eventually happen, Dark Horse Comics are losing the Star Wars license this year and Marvel Comics will take over from 2015. This is from ComingSoon.net ...

Yeah, Marvel and Dark Horse both released statements today. This was of course, an expected move, but still a little disappointing. One would hope they use some of the same writers/artists, although I don't know what relationship they all have with Marvel...as Dark Horse was often a refuge for those seeking to not work on the big super-hero type comics.

I've seen a few posts with people expressing concern over the quality of Marvel comics or the possibly losing the Dark Horse continuity. As far as quality, I'm sure Marvel can turn out a good story...it won't just be a rehash of the 80s comics...but they will need to take a different approach to this license. Dark Horse obviously devoted a lot of care into the branding of their Star Wars comics, in a way that the big publishers (Marvel, DC) had not previously done with movie licenses.

As far as continuity, I'm not so concerned about Marvel attempting to overwrite continuity (that would possibly alienate readers). It falls back on the sequels though. They will likely overwrite some (unknown at this time) quantity of the existing continuity and Marvel will only follow thier lead as to what the new or divergent timeline will be.
