Here's something I've been wondering. The AOTC Jedi Starfighter toy had pop-off panels, revealing guns, machinery, and opening wing-stabilizers/solar panels. To the best of my knowledge, this was completely Hasbro-invented play value. Kinda neat, but just extra for the toy. The new Jedi Starfighter from ROTS LOOKS like they took the toy and modified it into a new cocnept, and stuck it in the movie. Yes, it's supposed to be a pre-TIE concept design, but it's eerily similar to the toy.

Has anyone read anything regarding this relationship to the toy?
