Adult Swim Announces Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II!
Adult Swim's "Robot Chicken" travels back to a galaxy far, far away to create a second, all-new "Star Wars"-themed special. Premiering November 16 at 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT), "Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II" combines the satirical sensibilities of Seth Green and Matthew Senreich's (Stoopid Monkey Productions) Emmy-winning "Robot Chicken" with the unforgettable moments and favorite characters of the "Star Wars" universe. The special, to be directed by Green, is a follow-up to last year's "Robot Chicken: Star Wars," which was nominated for an Emmy last week. Both specials and the "Robot Chicken" series are created in conjunction with ShadowMachine Films’ Alex Bulkley and Corey Campononico.

"We're thrilled to get to make 'Episode II;' it doesn't even seem real — getting to make 'Star Wars' twice! We're so excited and bursting with joy," says co-creator Seth Green.

"With this second special, we knew we had to do something a bit different, something more," says co-creator Matt Senreich. "With that in mind, we decided to focus on the bounty hunters a bit and explore their stories. It's a geek-fest for us all."

"Robot Chicken: Star wars Episode II" gives "Star Wars" an entirely different attitude as it transforms the galaxy into the stop-motion animated world that is the hallmark of "Robot Chicken." The special will feature original "Star Wars" lead actress Carrie Fisher reprising her role as Princess Leia and Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian. From the first special, Green and Senreich have secured Ahmed Best to return as Jar Jar Binks, Seth MacFarlane as Emperor Palpatine, Breckin Meyer as Admiral Ackbar and Boba Fett, Conan O'Brien as Zuckuss and Donald Faison. Green won this year's Annie Award for directing the first special and will voice numerous characters, including Ponda Baba in "Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II." Andy Richter also joins the voice talent cast.

Today's announcement comes on the heels of the bonus-filled DVD release of the first special, "Robot Chicken: Star Wars," which hit stores July 22.

"Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II" is created and executive produced by Green and Senreich under their own Stoopid Monkey Productions, in conjunction with Alex Bulkley and Corey Campodonico's ShadowMachine Films. The duo also executive produce, write and direct the series, with Green providing many of the voices in the special and the series. Six all-new episodes of the "Robot Chicken" series begin airing August 31. The special is written by Green, Senreich, series head writers Tom Root and Douglas Goldstein and the "Robot Chicken" writing staff.

Entertainment Weekly:
Opening with a montage of clips both old and new, Adult Swim's Robot Chicken Comic-Con panel on Friday was packed to the rafters not only with fans, but with the show's writers and voice actors as well. The table on the dais was practically bursting by the time Seth Green, along with writers Matthew Senreich, Tom Root, Doug Goldstein, Breckin Meyer, Kevin Shinick, and voice actor Tom Kane, filed onto the stage. They fielded questions from the audience (including one proposal by a very well-meaning mother and her daughter) and gave fans some tantalizing peeks into the new season of Robot Chicken — as well as the show's latest Star Wars special (this time centering on the bounty hunters), currently in the works.

The Aug. 31 season premiere of Robot Chicken will be host to some of the biggest names in geek TV, including Joss Whedon, Seth MacFarlane, Ronald D. Moore, and Battlestar Galactica's Katee Sackhoff. The season itself will have sketches skewering everything from Batman and The Shawshank Redemption (Kevin Shinick calls it "Shawshank Arkham Asylum") to Indiana Jones and Tron, as well as a Living Lohan sketch voiced entirely by Meyer.

As for the new Star Wars special, Green promised that the bounty hunters would finally get their due, with sketches that would peek into the backgrounds of favorites like Dengar and Bossk (the writers-room favorite, who Root is determined to get into a tuxedo at some point). Another sketch: One that Meyer promised would finally articulate the true nature of the relationship between Boba Fett and the Sarlacc Pit. Production has already started, and Green said that fans can look forward to some familiar voices, including Star Wars luminaries like Carrie Fisher and Billy Dee Williams.
