A new online shop
11/29/01</CENTER>
A reader by the name of Brian sends in the following info...
"I just opened one of those prefab online stores for lack of something
better to do in between POTJ waves and was interested to find that there
are what look to be loose vintage figures for sale. They are either the
real thing or re-issues as it says that some of them come in Kenner
baggies. Anyway, if anyone wants to check it out, the site is:
The Big Deal
When you get there do a product search for Star Wars and this particular
set will come up with about 5 other things. MTFBWY and happy hunting!"
I checked the site out and the figures are the Vintage and not re-issues. Not much in the way of Star Wars, but you may find something that you like.

Fan Club Exclusive Stormtrooper??
11/28/01</CENTER>
That is what Collect Star Wars is reporting. According to CSW it will be a 2nd quarter 2002 release, most likely in May. It will also be packaged in a white mailer box like previous Fan Club exclusives.
If this holds true that would certainly sit well with all of the army builders out there. To me though it doesn't seem to make too much sense considering that E2 is right around the corner and you would THINK that the Fan Club and Hasbro would be offering something from the upcoming movie as opposed to another Stormtrooper. Guess we will just have to wait and see.

The Phantom Menace Rating Results
11/26/01</CENTER>
TBS reader Todd sends in the following info....
"Fox was the primetime master on Sunday as its world TV premiere airing of "Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace" blew away the competition on the final Sunday of the November sweep. Fox's 7-10 p.m. airing of "Phantom Menace" averaged 17.6 million viewers and 7.9 rating/18 share in the adults 18-49 demographic, according to preliminary estimates from Nielsen Media Research. Fox won the night in adults 18-34, teens and other key young demos. "Phantom Menace" opened up with a solid 14.4 million viewers and 6.4/17 in the demo at 7 p.m., peaking from 9-9:30 p.m. with 19.4 million viewers and 8.7/19 in adults 18-49."
Thanks for the news Todd. That is surely good news for us fans. When a movie that has been seen by so many people still manages to rake in 17.6 million viewers that is a good sign for the appeal of Star Wars.

R2-D2 on Fox NFL Pre-Game
11/25/01</CENTER>
I just caught our favorite astromech droid on FOX. It was the segment where Jimmy picks his weekly picks. It was about 2 or 3 minutes tops and features Artoo providing all the whistles and beeps that we have come to love over the years. Artoo than proceeds to send a holo transmission and another of the announcers was dressed like Princess Leia. Of course they had to give the mandatory "May The Force Be With You". All of this was done to promote the broadcast premier of The Phantom Menace tonight on FOX. Don't forget about the mockumentary featuring R2-D2 as well.
