Star Wars has gotten into the hearts and minds of millions and millions of people like no other adventure of our time. The saga reveals to us as a story full of power and myth, rebirth and redemption and the triumph of good over evil.
The line of toys and memorabilia brought up by the films has certainly been a powerful and present force for 25 years. The motivations leading us to collect it have been many but have you ever stopped and asked yourselves:

-What does it mean to me to be collecting Star Wars memorabilia?
-What makes me want every figure from this incredible adventure in a galaxy far, far away?
-What feelings do I get from collecting this line of toys?

Let's try to give answers to these questions and express our own feelings on the subject right here in my latest editorial
... Talon...Signing Off
01/26/02

With a sad heart, I post here to say goodbye to everyone. I have had a great time working on this awesome site in the few short months that we have been around. However, due to personal reasons I will be taking some time off from the site and Star Wars collecting in general. I am still and will always remain a loyal Star Wars fan, but at this time I have other things that just take priority. I may still pop up here and there to throw in a report or two and see how things are going.
I would like to take a moment to thank all of the TBS staff. You guys are great and I wish you all nothing but the best of luck and success with the site. There is something special here and I hope that it continues to grow. I know how hard we have worked to get everything to were it is right now!
A big thanks goes to all the readers who made us a regular stop and continue to visit daily. I have made quite a few friends and that is what it is all about. Star Wars transcends race, religion, age, etc., and so should Star Wars fans and collectors. It was an honor to get to report news to all of you.
I hope that my situation changes and allows me to once again be a part in such a great site.

May the Force be with you!

Attack of the Clones Posters: Home-made recipe
01/25/02

Twenty years ago production began on "Return of the Jedi." Twenty years ago Star Wars came out on videocassette becoming the best selling video of its time. Twenty years ago the THX Sound System was introduced. Today, twenty years after, another world event by Lucasfilm will make history, "Attack of the Clones," Star Wars Episode II. The excitement of such event getting so close has inspired me into creating three different posters/ads which I'd like to share with you and you can see them here. 25th Anniversary Set "Death Star Escape" Variations and Error Found
01/19/02

More from Ishi Tib...
I wanted to let our readers know I have just found two variations and an error dealing with "DEATH STAR ESCAPE," the 25th Anniversary set, which I'm certain haven't been talked about yet. The variations apply specifically for Han Solo, the error is given to our big hairy carpet, Chewbacca.

FIRST: Han Solo's vest could now be found with a glossy black color. I saw 6 of these sets yesterday and all their vests were glossy black. Almost a month ago, I purchased two of this same and they both sported flat black color vests, leading me to believe the flat black version was issued first.

SECOND: The sets with Solo sporting the glossy black vest all have this figure's right hand, the one holding the gun, with his index finger pointing away from it; the grip on Solo's hand is also much wider than the flat black color version and the gun does not fit tightly in it as it does with the non glossy one.

THIRD: There's an error with Chewbacca's eyes. I saw 3 sets yesterday with the same problem. Chewbacca's eyes are painted black with no white around the wookiee's pupils.

Both variants an error can be found having the same package number. No changes have been made to the package as of yet. For those wanting to know the number, it is: PN 6124500100 and the code number below it C-00IB is a sticker.

I have posted detailed pictures of these variations and error in the forums, follow this LINK to check them out.

E2 Celebration Exclusive Luke??
01/11/02

Accoridng to Mike over at RebelScum, the E2 Celebration figure looks like it may be a bit of a disappointment...at least to me it is. It is rumored to be the POTJ X-Wing Luke which may feature a new head sculpt and it will be packed with a MicroMachine X-Wing. Now I don't know about you but this doesn't sound to exciting to me. I would much rather have a George Lucas figure. However, in a recent radio transcript Mr. Steve Sansweet remarked about the exclusive figure and stated something to the effect that collectors would be very happy with this figure. I don't know how many of us would be happy with yet another Luke, but maybe it is just me.
Click here to discuss this in our forums.

Jedi Starfighter At Hasbro

Maybe due to all the pics of the E2 line surfacing the various collecting sites as of late (hit our forums now to check em out for yourself), Hasbro has been on a tear placing the images up on their site. The latest feature is the awesome looking Jedi Starfighter. With its cool wedge shape (which is very reminiscent of the A-Wing Fighter), amazing transformation abilities, and the side mounted astromech droid, this looks like one of the hot E2 items and surely at the top of my priority list. 01/10/02

Wookiee_Cookiee sends this in:

"Star Wars" creator George Lucas has reunited with Princess Leia -- for a talk-show appearance, anyway.

Carrie Fisher, who portrayed Leia in Lucas' opening "Star Wars" trilogy, landed a rare interview with Lucas for her cable interview series "Conversations From The Edge With Carrie Fisher," which airs on the
Oxygen network in the U.S.

The interview, which airs Jan. 30, was conducted at Lucas' Skywalker Ranch, and features the director
explaining his casting of "Star Wars" and the creation of Leia's double-bun hairstyle.

Lucas also surprises Fisher by showing her audition tape for the part, and he confirms the story that, had Fisher not worked out, his second choice was Terri Nunn, who later found fame as the lead singer of the pop group Berlin.

Other interview subjects lined up for Fisher include Melanie Griffith and Courtney Love.

Final Duel: 25th Anniversary Set

Ishi Tib sends in a review and some detailed pictures:

As promised, here are the pictures of the third installment of the Silver Anniversary sets, celebrating 25 years of Star Wars. This particular set has yet to make an appearance at retail stores, but it is indeed coming out very soon. As with the previous two sets "Swing to Freedom" and "Death Star Escape," Hasbro recaptures one more time the essence of Star Wars, this time around giving us the confrontation between the forces of Good an Evil as they are clearly channeled through the battle between Ben "Obi Wan" Kenobi and his former padawan, Darth Vader. Check out the forums for a review of this set and plenty of detailed pics. Enjoy!

Ishi Tib

Happy New Year!
01/01/02

I would like to wish everyone a happy and prosperous 2002! As I sit here this morning I have been reflecting upon the previous year and all of the good and bad that it brought us, the Star Wars collector. We were given a line in Power Of The Jedi that only grew stronger as each subsequent wave was released, with newer figures consisting of more detail and articulation. We have had two vehicles, a playset, a killer Deluxe line of figures, Palm Talkers, and a whole load of incredible collecting news. We were also treated to some amazing trailers of the soon to be released Attack Of The Clones. In a few months we will be bombarded with an insane amount of merchandise and, of course, Star Wars: EPISODE II - Attack Of The Clones!
2002 is going to be a phenomenal year for us all. We have all of these great things in place and we will once again reap all the benefits of being fans of the greatest saga ever told. I am proud to be a part of such a fantastic community and I look forward with eager anticipation to not only living all these exciting events, but to report about them too.
In closing I would like to thank everyone who has supported us in the four short months of our existence; the staff of TBS, the sponsors, site affiliates, and most importantly you. The readers are what makes all of this possible and I thank you for welcoming us into your collecting habits.

Happy 2002: Year Of The Darth
