Direct from Hasbro's Star Wars site comes this first glimpse of the upcoming Vintage C-3PO.

Meet C-3PO – the fussy, anxious protocol droid put together with discarded scrap by nine-year old Anakin on the desert planet Tatooine. This vintage figure is based on C-3PO as we remember him from The Empire Strikes Back, when he, Princess Leia, Han Solo, and Chewbacca evade Empire capture by hiding their ship in plain sight and then flee to Cloud City. The new C-3PO is vac-metalized and has articulation at the neck, shoulders, and hips.

Vintage Figure Spotlight: C-3PO from The Empire Strikes Back

Meet C-3PO – the fussy, anxious protocol droid put together with discarded scrap by nine-year old Anakin on the desert planet Tatooine. This vintage figure is based on C-3PO as we remember him from The Empire Strikes Back, when he, Princess Leia, Han Solo, and Chewbacca evade Empire capture by hiding their ship in plain sight and then flee to Cloud City. The new C-3PO is vac-metalized and has articulation at the neck, shoulders, and hips.

Like Vader, Yoda, and Lando, the vintage C-3PO is displayed in a near-exact replica of the original The Empire Strikes Back packaging. Some of the unique features from The Empire Strikes Back include:

· Single silver bar around the character image but double silver bars around the movie title
· Removal of the Luke & Leia image first seen on the A New Hope packaging
· Removal of the price box
· Blue accent color behind C-3PO figure
· Coffin-style blister
· Butterfly peg hook, die-cut but not punched out!
· And the Kenner logo

If you haven’t been keeping up with the Vintage Figure Spotlights, check out C-3PO’s card-back - you’ll notice it’s different from the “12-back” original. For legal reasons, Hasbro cannot cross-sell old figures on current products, nor can we display old promotional offers that were on some originals. However, the new cross-sell harkens back to the 70’s with its blue accent color (that matches the front) and displays pictures of the original packages for reference.

The vintage package is completed with a new, official Star Wars clamshell with Rebel and Imperial logos in the upper-left and -right hand corners as well as an embossed, official Star Wars logo on the back.

Check back soon – we’ll unveil the Return of the Jedi vintage figures – Stormtrooper, Boba Fett, Chewbacca, and R2-D2!
