Meet Captain Phasma.
BY
We’ve shown you new members of the dark sideand scruffy-looking nerf herders, but now Star Wars: The Force Awakens is unveiling something a little more mysterious. Here, in the final Annie Leibovitz portrait from the set of The Force Awakens is Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie in all her helmeted glory.

This portrait is official confirmation of the rumors that have been circulating for a while now. You weren’t imagining it; that was the lanky Brienne of Tarth stalking through halls and chasing the Millennium Falcon in the most recent trailer. Though many fans have already nicknamed her “The Chrometrooper,” Christie’s character is actually named Captain Phasma and is a member of the First Order—the film’s new version of the evil Empire.

But should we really assume that Christie’s Phasma is pure evil? In a franchise where arakish smuggler can get the princess, a Sith Lord can be redeemed, and a stormtrooper can be a potential hero, anything can happen. Christie, who spends most of her scenes in HBO’sGame of Thrones clad in armor, should be used to wearing a bulky metal suit, but, between you and me, I can’t wait to see her with that helmet off. Here’s hoping that, unlike with Lord Vader, we won’t have to wait until the third film.

There was a brief item about this at the end of the lunchtime TV news down here in New Zealand today. As well as photos, there's apparently some soundless video. That magazine cover photo was taken in the cockpit of the Millenniuim Falcon (from the front with the windows area missing for filming).

According to ComingSoon.net, the article also included "confirmation" of a new Indiana Jones movie. In reality is simply says they're thinking about making one to "relaunch" the franchise ... hopefully that does not end up meaning stupidly "rebooting" it with lots of idiotic, ill-fitting changes, as in so many other ruined franchises.
