Marvin [the Martian]'s best-known appearance was opposite Daffy Duck in Duck Dodgers in the 24 1/2th Century. The cartoon was made during the height of a TV "space cadet" craze that saw heroes like Flash Gordon, Tom Corbett, Captain Video, and Buck Rogers save the universe on a regular basis. It inspired a sequel and a popular Cartoon Network TV series. The film director George Lucas was such a fan of the short, he arranged for it to play in selected theatres during the original release of Star Wars.
