back row l to r, Marcia, Mike, Brian, Twist
front row, Daisy and Tim.

I don't know if any of you have seen the BBC show Spaced. ( I know Alf and Darth Skellington and possibly Borsk have) It stars
Simon Pegg (Shawn in Shawn of the Dead and the new Scotty in J.J.
Abrams new Trek movie).

Anyway, Simon plays Tim, who works in a comic shop and loves SW. He
and his roommate Daisy invite their neighbor Brian over to watch the
O.T. and here's the quote.

BTW, Tim has tears streaming down his face when he says this:

[Tim, Daisy and Brian have all just watched the original Star Wars
trilogy]
Tim: Brian, did you notice that everything that transpired in those
three films - and I *mean* everything - can be attributed to the
actions of one very *minor* character?

Brian: Who?

Tim: The gunner on the Star Destroyer at the beginning of the first
film.

Brian: How come?

Tim: [know-it-all] Well. Hmmhmmhmm. Because, if the gunner *had* shot
the pod that C-3P0 and R2 were in, they wouldn't have got to
Tatooine, they wouldn't have met Luke, Luke wouldn't have met Ben,
they wouldn't have met Han and Chewie, they wouldn't have rescued
Princess Leia. *None* of it would have happened.

Brian: Chaos Theory!

Tim: Eh?

Brian: The predictability of random events. The notion that reality
as we know it, past, present and future is actually a mathematically
predictable preordained system.

Daisy: So somewhere out their in the vastness of the unknown is an
equation... for predicting the future!

Brian: An equation so complex as to utterly defy any possibility of
comprehension by even the most brilliant human mind, but an equation
nonetheless.

Tim: Oh my God!

Brian: What?

Tim: I've got some f**king Jaffa Cakes in my coat pocket!

Hee hee. Spaced is available on DVD!

We started watching the second season today. I love that Tim is p.o.'ed about The Phantom Menace and refuses to sell Jar-Jar merchandise to the kids at the comic shop.

[to a Star Wars: The Phantom Menace fan]
Tim Bisley: You are so blind! You so do not understand! You weren't there at the beginning. You don't know how good it was! How important! This is it for you! This jumped-up firework display of a toy advert! People like you make me sick! What's wrong with you? Now, I don't care if you've saved up all your fifty 'p's, take your pocket money and get out!

[the little boy runs off, crying]

Tim Bisley: What a prick.

Bilbo Bagshot: The Phantom Menace was eighteen months ago, Tim!

Tim: I know, Bilbo. Okay. It still hurts! It's just that kid wanted a Jar Jar doll!

Bilbo Bagshot: Kids like Jar Jar!

Tim: Why?

Bilbo Bagshot: What about the Ewoks? They were rubbish! You don't complain about them!

Tim: Yeah, but Jar Jar Binks makes the Ewoks looking like... f**king Shaft!

Spaced is a great show! I love Simon Pegg and I'm looking forward to seeing him in the upcoming Star Trek movie. Hopefully it's not a flop like so many movies these days are.

I saw the trailer during the Super Bowl. It looked really good.

Yeah I've seen a few clips, looks good. But that's the whole point of a trailer, to elude you into paying to go see the movie. I onno, doesn't look terrible. Kinda funny that John Cho's going to to play Sulu(sp?). I hope to see bong rips on the bridge.

Doubtful! ;) I think they really did an outstanding job on the casting. The only one I wasn't too familiar with was Chris Pine but he looked good in the trailer. Cute but not too pretty-boyish.
