The makers of the recent Star Trek movie have confirmed that R2-D2 makes a secret cameo in the film.

Eagle-eyed owners of the just-released DVD noticed that the Star Wars character makes a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it appearance during a battle scene, where he can be spotted through a hole in the bomb-damaged Starship Enterprise.
It turns out that R2-D2’s guest spot is something of a recurring theme of films featuring the handiwork of Industrial Light & Magic, the special effects company owned by Star Wars creator George Lucas, with the robot also having recently cropped up in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
