PSWCS Celebrates 4-year Anniversary
Today, just 273 days from Episode 3, marks the 4th anniversary of the first
meeting of the Pennsylvania Star Wars Collecting Society (PSWCS.com). What
started as 10 people who met at a public library near Harrisburg has grown
to nearly 200 collectors from all corners of Pennsylvania who E-mail each
other daily to discuss the collecting hobby. Online conversations range
from reports of what has (or more commonly what has NOT) arrived at local
stores, to opinions on the latest toy line to just about anything Star Wars.
Nearly monthly meetings (www.pswcs.com/events) in both the east and west
halves of the keystone state allow members to interact in person and show
off their latest acquisition or a cherished piece of their collection,
while also sharing the story behind how it was obtained (a lucky find, an
eBay deal, or on the clearance racks!).
Meetings also feature games of both skill and chance, such as Star Wars
trivia or the ever popular Ewok Toss, with winners being rewarded with
member donated prizes. And then there is the trading...where members help
each other acquire hard to find old, new or just missed
collectibles..bringing the product distribution cycle into balance.
Finally, each year is capped by a Summer Social, an expanded meeting that
provides the chance for members and their families from across the entire
state to gather and share in the Star Wars experience.
