Sebulba and Anakin are really going after each other. They seem so intent on taking each other out that they are ignoring the other racers. For the moment, Sebulba has the lead but all of the racers are in good position to win this race.

Among the Podracer pilots of the rugged Outer Rim circuit, Sebulba has accelerated his way to the top with an unbeatable combination of courage, skill and outrageous cheating. His murderous tactics often brings his competition down in flames, but he knows where the race cameras are placed and manages to avoid being seen. In spite of his crimes, Sebulba has found that in Mos Espa success makes it's own rules. Now enjoying the power and prestige of being a top racer, the unscrupulous Dug has just one thorn in his side - the young Podracer named Anakin Skywalker.

The crowd is really enjoying the struggle between Sebulba and little Skywalker.

The immense Grandstands of Mos Espa Arena are cradled within a natural canyon amphitheater on the edge of the Western Dune Sea. Constructed of sandrock and ditanium over durasteel supports, the arena seats more than 100,000 fans - though many more squeeze in for the major events like the Boonta Eve Classic. While high-priced tickets for Podraces are widely sold to gullible off-worlders, Tatooine's regulars simply turn up on speeders and push their way into the barely regulated stands.

Pit droids are such a common sight near Podracers that they go mostly unnoticed, in spite of the bizarre antics they sometimes engage in when trying to get a job done. The real mechanics are left to make the complex decisions and oversee customized engine modifications.

The atmosphere before a Podrace is electric. Spectators take their seats in the stands; the rich enter their boxes or elevating platforms for an arial view; Podracers are prepared in the pit building and the betting floors are scenes of feverish activity as the odds are updated every few seconds.

Many off-worlders from the Outer Rim associate Mos Espa with its famous Podraces, held at the enormous arena in the desert outside the city. The thrill of the races can be addictive, and fans new to the sport soon find Tatooine-style gambling to be an expensive pursuit.

Sebulba and Elan Mak were going head to head for the lead but it seems that Mak has encounter some technical difficulties. It makes one wonder if Sebulba had anything to do with the destruction of Mak's Podracer.

There's another good reason why Elan Mak glowers with rage. His real name is Kam Nale, and he's the son of a Fluggrian crime lord who has been recently murdered. Mak believes that the assassin is none other than pilot Aldar Beedo, so the young Mak has joined the circuit seeking revenge.

Sebulba is a highly skilled Podracer, but he was not quite good enough to make it to the top on ability alone. When he found that intimidation and race violations were quite effective in gaining victory, he refined these abilities and began to add secret weapons to his racing machines. Dispatching opponents without getting caught is now the chief sporting aspect of Podracing for the malevolent Dug.
