The system for determining the starting lineup of the Boonta Eve race involves an apparently baffling combination of performance statistics, outride bribery, and random chance.

Musicians stroll the stands on race day, entertaining the crowds for contributions. Many if the improvised instruments they play are made from engine parts.

Ody Mandrell seems to be having trouble at the start. His mechanics seem stumped on the soruce of the problem.

Pit droids are programmed to have a permanent sense of urgency, pit droids are utility mechanics that assist with Podracer maintenance jobs. Their compact form allows them to reach small parts and linkage in and under the big engines. Pit droids are built with minimal logic processors so they take orders without asking personal or superfluous questions. However, this leaves them easily confused and apt to get into trouble when left to their own devices.

Lets hope that Ody can get this problem solved and get back into this race.

Gasgano is always a favorite in the Boonta Eve Race on Tatooine because he is backed by Gardulla the Hutt. His pit droids usually keep him in the thick of things but he very rarely wins. You might think that he 24 fingers might get in the way but he keeps most of them crossed.

Those nomads of Tatooine have shown up again. This time they're out near Jett's Chute, just before the Hutt Flats.

Sandpeople prowl areas like the Dune Sea and the Jundland Wastes, blending invisibly into the landscape. Masters of the desert, they survive where no one else can, protected from the suns by heavy clothing. Their savage and violent ways pit them against the moisture farmers and settlers in lonely, remote lands. They usually stay away from towns and cities, but in the dead of the hot season, Raiders emerge from the wastes after the twin suns set to scavenge or steal from the edges of settlement zones. It is best locked up tight at night - Sand People almost never come into a house but they will slay a lone resister outside.

It looks like Ratts Tyrell didn't escape the encounter with the Sandpeople without damage. He has fallen into last place. He is closeing the gap between himself and the other racers but it may be too late in the race.

He has a quick change metabolism that give him lightning reflexes in the heat of a Podrace - or on the run from predatory sagcatchers on his homeworld. This is why he is one of the main Podrace contenders.

...and the winner is Wan Sandage, followed by Slide Paramita in 2nd and Ratts Tyrell in 3rd.

Wan began racing at the age of two, but Devlikkis have a lifespan of only ten years, so at six years of age Wan knows that time is running out. The dashing pilot is willing to turn to treachery in order to eliminate some of his primary opponents. Aldar Beedo may be in league with Sandage and that probably led to today's victory.
