As Gentle Giant's debut in their new 7-inch scale statue diorama line, the Sandtrooper on Dewback statue succeeds in bringing the environment and world of Star Wars to life.
The Empire encompassed thousands of worlds, with countless climate and terrain challenges. Their stormtrooper ranks reflected this through specialized units trained and equipped to operate in specific environments. The stormtrooper detachment dispatched by Lord Darth Vader to investigate a crashed escape pod on Tatooine just prior to the Battle of Yavin consisted of sandtroopers. They had heavy weapons, survival gear, and shoulder pauldrons denoting rank. Not surprisingly, the dewback was a critical component to the sandtrooper patrols assigned to the planet's Imperial garrison. The dewback is prized due to its ability to withstand the heat and dust that often leads to mechanical breakdown in modern high-tech conveyances.
The statue has a magnificent presence with its attention to detail and size of 18-inches x 9-inches x 12-inches. It comes fully painted and with certificate of authenticity. The sandtrooper comes complete with the customary prod, and can be set in different positions: vertical, or slightly diagonal. Edition size is yet to be determined.
The Sandtrooper on Dewback retails for $239.99 and will be available in December.
