LucasArts running Battlegrounds Expansion Competition

Jango Fett and Darth Vader Vinyl Figures

Vinyl figures are coming!

You probably haven't seen them yet but there were two figures shown at New York Toy Fair that were vinyl. Applause had the US license to make vinyl figures from the classic and Episode I films but they no longer do. This is where Hasbro steps in (Kotobukiya has the Japanese license). Shown were Darth Vader and Jango Fett, both at 10'' tall. Won't be too far off being released and should make nice additions for the mantlepiece....

New Book Preview at the Official Site

<A HREF="http://www.starwars.com">Starwars.com</A> has just posted pics of two new books for younger readers coming out April 23, the Star Wars: Attack of the Clones Storybook, and Star Wars: Attack of the Clones Scrapbook. Both books are illustrated and contain 48 pages. Hard to See the Dark Side Is

Seems the news about the Fan Club getting the 25th Anniversary and Toy Fair exclusive silver Darth Vader figure today was nothing more than a rumor. If you glued yourselves to your computer screens, as I did, waiting for the Fan Club to put this figure up for grabs you certainly noticed nothing happened. So after long hours of waiting and nothing going on, a phone call to the Fan Club, gave us this new information: "Unfortunately it has been just a rumor. As of right now, we have no idea when or how many of them we will be receiving. Your best bet would be to be checking back with us regularly as they are indeed expected to arrive soon" The figure, as stated, is definitely being picked up by the Fan Club and it will sell for around $9.00 but while we wait for this, don't forget that you still have a chance of getting one for free by entering to win Vaughn's at <a href="http://www.sandtroopers.com/">www.sandtroopers.com</a> and Chris' over at <a href="http://www.thejawa.com/">www.thejawa.com</a> both showing a great collectors attitude for the hobby. Episode 2 Music

<A HREF="http://www.darkhorizons.com">Dark Horizons</A> has an interesting post about the music from Attack of the Clones. According to his source: Anakin's Theme is much more prominent this time and it morphs noticeably into the Imperial March theme. There is a brand new love theme that is being recorded as part of the score and as a standalone musical arrangement. The Palpatine Theme is back and it's much darker and more sinister. Along with this is a return of the Dark Side Theme (beating of drums and Cha-Cha chant). Duel of the Fates is back. There is a rumored Fett Legacy Theme. The Light of the Force is a new theme. <A HREF="http://www.darkhorizons.com">Dark Horizons</A> reports that overall, the score for Episode 2 will be much darker.

Mine had fliers in for a previous release, and offered different freebies. I also noted that the bar code on the front was different to issues 1-6. I'm guessing it is issue 7 from the test release. It has been reported at <A HREF="http://www.yakface.com">yakface</A> from custom model builder Michael Fright that he will be displaying his incredibly huge and detailed Tantive IV outside the convention centre. Here is the email that he submitted to yakface - "Here is an E-mail I just received from Jeanette Keblish, Sales & Marketing Manager of the Celebration II. Hi Michael, we are looking for a spot to park the trailer and model outside the convention center. It is looking very promising. In fact it is a 95% done deal so with that in mind we were hoping you would be able to have it in Indy before Thursday 5/2 at 10 am. We are hoiping to stage a media event with your model and the 501st legion of Stormtroopers. What do you think the possibility of you being able to be there with your model by that time?" Straight from the Horse's Mouth: Midnight Maddness

As we all await 12:00 midnight on April 23 for the release of all the new product for Attack of the Clones, I have some new information on the subject to share with you all. This news comes straight from a good friend at Toys R. Us Corporate Office: Midnight Madness will indeed take place at Toys R. Us, but not all of their stores will be participating. Only those stores big enough in size to carry all of the new product and with sufficient employees to handle the influx of customers the release of the new merchandise will generate, will be part of it. Also managers at participating Toys R. Us have been given two options to choose from by their Corporate Office: OPTION 1) Close for business at regular hours( 9:30 P.M) and then reopen at 12: 00 A.M. This will be a time employees will use to bring out and set up the new product. OPTION 2) Remain opened from April 22 at 9:30 A. M until 3:00 A. M, April 23. This means product will be put out and displayed while customers are in the store BUT they will not be allowed to purchase it until the clock has hit 12:00 A. M Either option chosen by a manager will give customers a three hour time frame to actually be able to make their AOTC purchases. If you are planning on taking pictures of the crowd and toys inside the store, TRU Corporate Office asks to contact them first and ask for a permit and see if you qualify for it. Pictures will not be allowed inside the stores unless you've been given authorization by their Corporate Office. As a note of advice, check with your local Toys R Us store to confirm which of the two options mentioned they will be implementing or whether or not they will be opened for business at Midnight Madness.

Power has been Restored

For those that are unaware, a <A HREF="http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/2578764.htm">severe ice storm hit Kansas City</A> during this past week and knocked out power for a great deal of the surrounding area. Unfortunately, this meant that our server was without power (and 6 hours worth of battery time didn't quite cut it). Currently, the server is running off a generator until full power has been restored. The possibility does exist that we could experience more technical difficulties while we try to recover, so please be patient while the situations is resolved. Thanks. A few things to note: *Any e-mail that you may have sent to us during the past week did not reach us. You will have to send it again. *The deadline for the Custom Bothan Contest has been extended until next Tuesday. So this means that February 5th will be the last day that we accept entries. *The scheduled Friday night chat will be rescheduled. Look for more info on that soon. Once again, I'm sorry for any inconvience that this may have caused and I'm doing everything I can to get the site back to normal. Thanks for your patience.
