<CENTER>DELUXE FIGURES, WAVE 2
DETAILED PICTURES AND REVIEW</CENTER>
Consisting of two new sculpts, Anakin with Geonosian warrior and the Nexu feline beast,Deluxe sculpts wave 2 have hit retail. But there is good and bad with these new offerings
<CENTER> ANAKIN AND GEONOSIAN WARRIOR</CENTER>
After taking a close look at this 2-pack, you will realize Anakin's sculpt is one of the worst yet. The figure lacks likeness, his slashing action does not work and the "soft goods," his cloth vest, looks completely out of place.
HEAD SCULPT: If this is truly a Real Scan developed face, by all means the scanner must had been acting up. Anakin does not resemble Hayden at all, well, except perhaps for the Jedi braid. His hair is blonde but his eyebrows are black ??? and his head does not turn
ARMS DESIGN: Oh those arms! They won't either go up nor down. Try to and you will take them out of their shoulder sockets. The only arm movement and position allowance you will get, is by pushing on the huge button sticking out from Anakin's back which makes them open and close. Yes, this button activated "slashing" feature is just another one of those "Oh no! I've got a dagger in my back" unnecessary and very visible one.
One good thing, though, is the wrist articulation on both hands which allows you, at least, to give his hands and removable lightsabers more than just one pose. But truly, this is as far as you can go posing this figure.
ARTICULATION: None, except on the wrists and limited one on his shoulders. The figure does have articulation at the legs, but count that one out as they can only be positioned one way or Anakin will make floor contact with his face. There is no articulation at the waist, nor his neck nor anywhere else on his body.
Despite the fact Anakin, supposedly, is the star of this two pack, the Geonosian warrior steals the show. Its wings and arms are detachable and the creature nicely dismembers into three pieces, showing its detailed bloody insides, painted red. You can have the warrior displayed in all his glorious slashed 7 pieces or all together by means of four plastic pegs and corresponding orifices.
<CENTER>NEXU, ARENA BEAST</CENTER>
We all know Star Wars beast are really, truly, cool and this one is no exception. The Nexu has been nicely designed and crafted. From the over 40 spikes on his back to its elaborate sharp full of teeth mouth to the battle wound on his belly to its well working features, this figure is definitely a nice addition to any collection.
FEATURES: For starters, this feline beast features attack roaring sounds which are loud and clear and can be activated by pressing on the small button next to its left front leg.
MOUTH: Its mouth snaps open and its jaw locks in place. if you dare to stick your finger inside its sharp teeth mouth (don't worry, teeth are of a soft plastic nature), push on its tongue and you will unleash battle sounds. When finish playing, just make its jaw snap close
TAIL: it is bendable, which allows the Nexu to have its tail position in several ways or wrapped around any figure, recreating an attack. This is truly a nice feature
ARTICULATION: Its four legs present articulation at the points closest to the body and the neck can be rotated 180 degrees, not interfering with anything. Its jaw, as previously mention, opens and closes with ease, no matter what angle its head's been given.
To conclude, if you are a "collect all" individual (and I fall into this category), get both of these Deluxe figures; they will surely add on to your collection. Now, if you are choosy and you only collect certain things only, well, the Nexu truly should be your next acquisition. It is indeed the better one
