Dark Lord of the Typos
I recently acquired this from Toy Chamber collectibles. It is a newspaper advertisement from 1981, clipped from the comics section. It measures appriximately 9" x 12" and promotes the story cards packed in various non-Star Wars boxes of Dixie Cups.
Dixie produced multiple series of Star Wars themed Dixie Cups, and there are promotional variations to a number of the boxes. Within the normal line of Dixie Cups, they offered 24 Story Cards (found as 4-card strips in each box), a poster that could be picked up in store (possibly mailed away for too), and of course the boxes themselves promoting the cards. There was also a series of 8 larger photo cards as well.
Advertisements can be fun and challenging to collect. Vintage ones found within other collectibles (comic books, toys) are not an uncommon sight. Those that were printed in items traditionally not collected, say newspapers or family magazines, are a bit more of a surprise to find.
