Here is an international comic I recently acquired. It is from Hungary, and is a retelling of the original Star Wars (A New Hope) story in two parts. This is issue 2, containing the conclusion of the story.

The cover features a colorful and imaginative interpretation of Star Wars events. The interior contains black and white art that is completely different from the Marvel comics most people are familiar with. Another difference is the size...this is smaller than typical comics, measuring approximately 6" x 8.5". At the end of the comic, there are several pages of crossword puzzles.

In addition to the two issues of Star Wars, there is at least one Hungarian issue of The Empire Strikes Back, also featuring unique cover artwork. I hope to see one in person soon.

Here's a sneak preview for you!

The entire Empire Strikes Back story is told in a single 32 page comic. The story is very fast paced and ends on page 27. It has crossword puzzles on pages 28-32, inside back cover, and back cover. The Wampa is imagined (reimagined?) as a giant rat with an elephant trunk, but Yoda is dead-on, indicating that it was drawn after filming was completed. (Marvel readers may remember that the original Yoda in Marvelverse was a purple gnome.)

The fanged dragon who spits R2 out in the Dagobah swamp, and the Mynock are both reptillian dinosaurs, and sadly the bounty hunter scene has been omitted, probably for space. Boba Fett only appears in three panels, and is strictly a non-communicative background element each time.

The braid along the bottom of the pages is black on some pages and blue on others.
