Today’s collectibles are Star Wars patches. There are hundreds of Star Wars patches out there. A few licensed ones popped up during the vintage era, including some made for the Fan Club. There are patches used by the cast and crew, and also a number of military and Boy Scout patches with Star Wars themes. Currently, there are many collectors patches available for sale at specialty shops, like Hot Topic or Disney stores. There a countless patches made by the 501st and Rebel Legions (through agreement with Lucasfilm, they are only sold at cost to members of these respective costuming organizations). Lastly, there are numerous fan-made or unlicensed patches, often made for trading.

The photo above shows a sampling of Legion patches, as well as Fan Club, Boy Scout, Celebration, and patches for websites or local fan groups. Patch collecting can be a fun pastime, and trading with other collectors at events is a great social activity. The great thing about patches is that they take up little room, and can be stored in ziplock bags, or better yet, displayed on jackets or in cd-wallets. With their wealth of colorful imagery, patches can be a attractive highlight in your collection.
