DETAILED PICTURES AND REVIEW
</CENTER

As with any of the previous lines, Star Wars Saga, Attack of the Clones figures come embedded with ups and downs. Although the detail of the outfits as well as the head sculpts will amaze you, there are a couple of things with this new line needing improvement:

- More articulation
- Less extreme poses

We will review the 8 different characters in this wave this time based on their features, detail and likeness. They all enjoy and suffer, basically, from the same characteristics.

Wave one is composed of the following characters:

C-3PO (Protocol Droid)
R2-D2 (Coruscant Sentry)
Jango Fett (Kamino Escape)
Anakin Skywalker (Outland Peasant Disguise)
Kit Fisto (Jedi)
Padme Amidala (Arena Ecape)
Super Battle Droid
Obi-Wan Kenobi (Coruscant Chase)

PROTOCOL DROID

As far as likeness and detail go, these new scuplts are not missing one thing except for one character, C3-PO.
Despite the fact that the figure comes nicely accessorized with a trunk to stash all of his coverings, a total of eight parts, the Protocol Droid lacks the detail that was offered with Episode 1's. When "naked" the sculpt is lame and you get the feeling it was done rather fast, being all silver with just a few badly painted wires. Therefore, don't expect to find the intricate maze of colored cables and wires its predecessor had. C-3po's "parts" are indeed the other side of the coin, as they have been weathered and detailed with will and they attach nicely to the holes provided on the droid's body. The parts fit nice and tight and do not interfere with the movement of the articulated joints.

<CENTER>R2-D2
CORUSCANT SENTRY
</CENTER>

C3PO'S counterpart, R2-D2, is one figure many will enjoy. Despite the lack of a retracting center leg, due to the fact the space inside the body was needed to place the three batteries which allow the figure to "talk and light up, it is indeed this feature as well as the two killer centipedes Artoo comes packed with what gives this sculpt "character" as well as playability.

<CENTER>ANAKIN SKYWALKER
OUTLAND PEASNT DISGUISE
</CENTER>

Anakin is the most "plenty of play" figure from the bunch and although his molded unto his right hand lightsaber handle is rather bulky, this was needed to provide the retracting feature of the blade which can be easily pulled out or tucked in by sliding, up or down, the small lever on the gap behind his arm. His pose is dynamic, yet subtle and the removable poncho gives the character two different looks to be displayed with. The trunk for weapons provided with the figure offers a magnetic latch, which means it can be opened by running Anakin's left hand over it, this same hand with an embedded magnet will attract his pistol to it "using the force"

<CENTER>KIT FISTO
JEDI
</CENTER>

One of my favorite figures from this wave is Kit Fisto. The head sculpt of this character is simply amazing. His tentacles-like hair has been very realistically made, down to the dark and light green spots all over it; the soft plastic used for its design gives it an even more realistic skin feel. The figure, although it holds an extreme pose, can be displayed in an array of ways holding his lightsaber. It is extra articulated at the right elbow and both wrists, allowing Fisto to hold his saber with both hands and/or permitting to adopt several defense/attack poses. His right hand also presents a magnet which can attract the lightsaber if "using the force"

<CENTER>PADME AMIDALA
ARENA ESCAPE
</CENTER>

Padme Amidala does not look bad at all, once you get to play around with her a little (don't get me wrong on the expression) She is in fact the most extreme posed figure of this wave and also the one with the less posable ways; actually she will only hold one pose: her right arm extended. Her quick-draw action I find it really unnecessary, taking away the possibility of at least giving her more than just one pose. Despite the picture on the back of the card showing the ex-queen with her right arm down, it is impossible to obtain this as the spring inside, used for the quick-draw feature, will just swing her arm right back up again. Despite these true facts going against this figure, as a whole, the character looks great standing right next to the supplied break-apart arena column and holding the real metal chain which attaches around her left wrist.

<CENTER>SUPER BATTLE DROID</CENTER>

His big, he is chunky and he offers a good amount of play. The Super Battle Droid is a fun figure to "mess around " with. The figure comes packed with two interchangeable torso plates; a clean, no damaged one as well as a blast-damaged torso with and attachable red laser burst. Two different arms are also provided; one being just a regular arm which is articulated at the elbow and a "super arm," which it is in fact a weapon. A small projectile can be loaded into it and by pressing a button on the side, it will launch it. An extra feature many will have fun with is the trigger on the droid's back. By pressing it, the droid's head, body and arms will pop off, sending this guy all over the place. Only this figure is articulated at the knees, a unique feature for this wave

<CENTER>OBI-WAN KENOBI
CORUSCANT CHASE
</CENTER>

I truly like the head sculpt performed on the Jedi. His head is almost identical to Ewan's new look for the film. Obi-Wan presents added articulation on his left biceps, a feature which comes in handy while he holds his lightsaber, allowing several poses with it. His right hand is open and within its palm is a skin color painted magnet which could "force-attract" the lightsaber if it's held over it. This magnet is what will also serve as the attachment for the figure to hold the ASN-121 assassin droid packed with the figure. The droid presents a rounded metal piece on its right side which will stick to the magnet while the bottom part will rest on Obi's head, securing the droid in place.

<CENTER>JANGO FETT
KAMINO ESCAPE
</CENTER>

The bounty hunter comes nicely accessorized and with plenty of features. His Mitrinomon Z-6 jet pack presents directional exhaust nozzles which can actually be rotated as well as the capability to fire a missile. on his right arm, Fett carries a grappling hook and cord. The cord extends about 5" and it can be pulled back and wrapped around the side of his arm on a protruding piece which also serves as a clip to hold the grappling hook in place. Both arms are articulated at the elbows, allowing for the character to be posed as he was pressing on the bottom of his wrist gauntlet to shoot the grappling hook out. Both of Jango's guns ban be removed from the holsters with ease and can be placed in his hands with a tight grip. His removable helmet, although it lacks the movement of the targeting rangefinder, fits him snugly and when removed it let all of see the face behind it, nicely sculpted and detailed, even showing his scars.

Overall this brand new batch of figures looks very good. And, although at times, the lack of articulation on the knees and extreme poses interfere with the amount of possibilities to display them, it is safe to say they do come accessorize and feature lots of "goodies" As with any of the previous lines improvements will be made along the way, as technology and better sculpting becomes available and collectors' cries for changes keep being heard.

Check out the following detailed pictures and ... Enjoy!

Until next time ...
