Can we end this thread? As Borsk alluded to, we can go in circles forever discussing hypothetical situations. What happened is what happened, and it cannot be changed. There was no reason for the Americans to join WWII before they did, as the war was being fought on other country's soil, and for reasons that held little interest to the American population at the time.

One last counterpoint. If the U.S. had 'intervened', then the reaction from many countries, especially if the bomb was used for non-retaliatory reasons, would have been much the same as the current view of the States held by much of the Arab world.

It's a cold hard fact. Wars happen, and often for stupid reasons. In this case, there was a war that ended almost immediately after the U.S. entered it.

Now, let's get back to our Star Wars discussions.
